intentionally

We serve a planning God. While we very rarely get a glimpse into the depth of His plans and sometimes His designs can confound us, the Bible is clear that our sovereign God is actively working in His creation to bring about His purposes. He is not a reactive God but rather a proactive one, working all things for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purposes. With that in mind, should it come as any surprise to us that our intentional God calls us to be intentional in our worshipful responses to Him?

Anyone can be moved to give in the moment. Whether it’s making a knee-jerk donation in response to a powerful message or signing up to serve in the Children’s Ministry because a desperate email made us feel guilty, all of us can react to God’s generosity in ways that run counter to how we would normally act. But God is calling for something more premeditated, more disciplined. And He’s not just looking for intentionality in our treasure, our finances and material possessions. We have all been blessed with a variety. We all have unique talents and abilities with which we can advance God’s Kingdom. We can all give of our time to further His purposes both within and outside of the Church. And we all have a story to tell, a unique testimony of God working in our life that He may use to reach someone who is lost.

Our God has blessed us with so much. As we look to respond, let’s not be reactive but rather let’s intentionally GO out and be the hands and feet of Jesus to a world that desperately needs Him.

giving

At Rock Point Church we encourage generous living in response to a generous God.  2 Corinthians 8:9 says, You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that by His poverty He could make you rich.

Our giving is a response to the grace of God in our lives. It does not come out of our own philanthropy or altruism, but instead is a result of the transforming work of Christ in us. Grace is the action; our giving is the reaction. So, we encourage you to pray and ask God what He would have you give in response to His generosity.

They have been a wonderful encouragement to me, as they have been to you. You must show your appreciation to all who serve so well. 1 Corinthians 16:18

At Rock Point Church, we boldly ask people to serve for the simple fact that God expects it of His Church. Christ set the example for us in that though deserving of our service, He instead came to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. The Church, Christ’s body and instrument in this world, has many needs and people are called to meet those needs through the unique gifts God has given them. As we serve we learn that it is truly “more blessed to give than to receive.” The faithful and generous individuals who choose to donate their time and talent to Rock Point Church consistently describe how serving is a portal into a richer, more purposeful and increasingly fulfilling life. Being an active volunteer at Rock Point has brought blessings to our people beyond what we could have ever imagined.
